Genesis: Book of Beginnings
“Genesis” is the Greek title for the book meaning “origin”, source, or “beginning”. It reveals the beginning of all things except God Himself, who is eternal – the beginning of creation, man, sin, death, family life, murder, languages, salvation, the nation Israel, etc. Hebrew and Christian tradition names Moses as the author of Genesis and Jesus himself agreed to Mosaic authorship.
